How about some welded diff action?

Image
Image

Thread where he asks how to do it and gets an obvious prank reply:
Quote:
Only works well if you make sure to weld the tips of the shafts to the side gears, as well as the sides and spiders together. Heat it up good, make sure the gear oil is glowing, and don't use the welding mask. Can't see shit when you do.

Thread where he posts the results:
Quote:
Alright, after reading a ton of threads on welding up gears for extra traction, i went ahead and welded mine up.

I put the third back in and went to pull out of my garage, and I just roasted my clutch. I figured that maybe there was some slag left in the bearing, so i dropped it in 4lo and lo and behold something broke loose.
MY FUCKING DRIVE LINE.

I'm really pissed at all this BS talk. I welded my junk really wel. And now my driveline is twisted up like a damn pretzel.

You are all a bunch of shit talkin Jerks.

What the hell did you all do differently?

wow fucking burn hahahaha

ROFL! What fucking idiot. Shows he has absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of how a ring and pinion works.

Holy shit. I can't believe he even had enough brains to take it apart and put it back together again...

1. This is really funny, and the dumbass should have never been touching his vehicle.

2. It is pretty fucked up that they let him go through with it.

Years ago there was a forum prank like this on a computer forum. The members got a newbie to seal up his PC with silicone and RTV then fill it with water as an answer to his stupid "water cooling" computer questions.

I have searched all I can, and cannot find it anywhere. t is lost to the archives of the interweb.

MIG with gas turned off
fake chinese turbo from ebay

Wow. I can't believe that kid actually welded the ring and pinion. How could look at what you're doing and not realize it's wrong? I guess some people trust what they read on the internet a little too much. I'm really surprised someone that dumb was able to pull off a good enough weld to twist the driveshaft, though. The only part that I think is fucked up about that prank was the suggestion to not use a welding mask. That's going a little far. Somebody could permanently blind themselves by doing that.

That "turbo manifold" is awesome! Was that really a joke or was somebody seriously proud of that piece of work?

Not to talk trash on welding skills... but I have no clue how to weld, so I stay the fuck away from the welder rather than build some shit like this...

The bad part is that cage would support a full speed rollover in that high speed machine.

I'm sure that "pipe" provides the needed stiffening for .99 G skidpad donuts.

I ordered that same manifold for my car. The guy swears an extra 50-60hp. Something about less bends and light weight.
